Gallery 2014: November 28 and 29, Ponca Wilderness Area

- We start at the Compton Trailhead, elevation: 2200 ft. (top right red dot). After a mile, we visit the Flowers Cabin (dark blue dot). We continue to a beautiful overlook (orange dot). It then starts to really go down. We get to the bottom of Hemmed-In Hollow to see the waterfall, elevation: 1100 ft. (pink dot). The ledge is over 200 ft. over our heads. We go back up a little and then go down and cross the Sneeds Creek. We settle in a beautiful area for our campsite, maybe a quarter mile from the Buffalo River, elevation: 950 ft. (light blue dot)! Before nightfall, we go visit Granny Henderson's House (purple dot). Friday, we leave the campsite and hike the four miles back up on the Centerpoint Trail, arriving at the Centerpoint Trailhead around noon, elevation: 2100 ft. (yellow dot).
